GFA League 1: Brikama Extend Lead

A one-nil win against Interior FC at the Serrekunda East mini stadium on Saturday was enough for Brikama United to stay top with 14 points in the Gambia premier league.
Though the first half was not so competitive, Ba Saikou Jawneh of Brikama managed to send in a wonderful header from Alieu Jatta’s cross, in which was the only dead-chance throughout the first half.

Interior’s Famara Manneh could have netted the opener after he found himself on a one-on-one occasion which he didn’t utilize. The only goal of the game that separated the two sides came from Foday Trawally after he was assisted by Ansumana Joberteh from a set piece.

“Although it is a complicated match, as everybody saw in the first half, I will thank my boys very well, they extremely did well and I’m happy,” said, Brikama Utd head coach Ensa Sambou.
The league leaders coach further told this reporter that he will prepare well for their next match against Samger next weekend.

The assistant coach of Interior attributed his team defeat to a a tactical error.
Assistant coach Lamin Jammeh said: “I think it was a fine a game, we’ve been working hard and we will continue to work harder to win matches.”
