Alhagie Sarr, the head coach of Real De Banjul seemed to be pleased with their third position after registering a 2-0 victory against Bakau at the Serrekunda East mini stadium in the final game of the GFA league first round.
Real are placed at third position with 19 points hot on the heels of Brikama and Gambia Ports Authority in the top three ranking of the GFA league table at the end of the first round as team wait for the second round in two weeks.
Mbemba Colley’s 21st minute spot kick marked the opener for the Banjulians, which they defended well to the break. In the second half, Dimingo Manneh made things happen by scoring the winning goal in the 83rd minute from Musa Sowe’s perfect delivery.
“The 3 points means a lot to me as our target in the first round of the league was 20 points, out of which we managed to get 19 pints, meaning our result is fair,” Real’s coach, Alhagie Sarr said.
According to Sarr, his players were much focused during the game and said that the pitch was somehow at a very bad stage but the boys showed much concentration to win the match.
Also speaking Bakau United’s Coach Kebba Touray said it’s sad to lose the game but he accepted it in good faith, adding that they will prepare better come the second.
He attributed his bad form to many injuries of his player, but promised that the second round will be different.
