“I’m joyful and I will not be fair without thanking my players for the job well done.” These were the words of Peter Bonu Johnson after his team’s 2-1 victory against the Soldier boys, GAF at the Serrekunda West mini stadium on Saturday.
“Coming to the game, I told my players to take the game very seriously and fight to grab the three points against GAF to guarantee our good standing as we head for the break,” Bonu Said.
Bonu also told reporters that his players have been struggling since their defeat to Jarraf in the African Champions league qualifiers, but he believes that they start to forget that and now thinking on how to defend their title come the second round.
He then promised their fans to expect more come the second round, saying he is so far very happy with the organisation of the league and he is hoping to see the same thing in the second round.
The defending champions of the GFA League 1, GPA ended the first round with a win against the Gambia Armed Forces on Saturday at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium in a thrilling encounter.
GPA are third with 19 points, trailing behind Brikama United, Wallidan with a chance of making it to the second half.
