Defending champions Pirang Village grabbed their second straight victory against Duwasu Village over the weekend in the ongoing inter-village football competition in Kombo East District thanks to Lamin Jabang’s last minute goal.
It was a trilling encounter as both teams came into the game with three points hoping to grab another three points which would certainly see them through to the tournament’s quarter final.
The first half was not much entertaining as both teams were cautious at the back avoiding to concede a goal.
Pirang’s shot stopper Abdoulie Sonko made a save in the early minute as he dealt with a shot from Duwasu player.
Shortly after, Pirang’s Striker Yankuba Jarju had a free header in the 22 minute but his shot went over the bar. After series of goal chances squandered by both teams, the first half ended in a goalless draw.
After the break, Duwasu’s Ebrima Touray was denied a goal by the woodwork, Sarjo Bojang the man at goalpost for Duwasu saved another one-on-one from Pirang’s Mustapha Faye, before Lamin Jabang decided the winner for Pirang in the final minutes of the game.
Meanwhile Kuloro and Kafuta shared points in a 0-0 encounter at Faraba Banta football field, while Bonto FC suffered their second successive defeat against Shom FC.
