Culture, Maccassa Stalemate

By Omar Jarju
Maccassa FC

Lovely football, two big teams and huge morning spectators, but unconvincing results was what happened on Sunday at the Serrekunda east mini stadium between Maccassa and Culture FC in the ongoing SESDO Nawettan.
Maccassa started as the better side, mounting pressure on Culture FC defenders but not for too long as the Bundung boys however fought very hard to win back possession. In the 33th minute of the game Omar Jarju sent a superb shot for Maccassa but could only go over the crossbar.

Meanwhile, in the 40th minutes of game another powerful shot by Antouman Faal of Maccassa could have gave his side the lead in the first period, but thanks to a punch by Culture‘s goal keeper Yaya Jallow alias Zama.
Maccassa took back their possession but struggled to register a goal in the first half of the game.
Came into the second period, Maccassa picked from where they left prior to break continuing to mount pressure on their opponents forcing them to make early substitutions.
The introduction of Foday Trawally for Culture helped to smoothen the link between strikers and midfielders in the game.
The first clear cut chance of the game in the second period went to Saif Deen of Culture in the 51th minute, but his effort only hit the crossbar.
However in the struggle to at least register a goal in the dying minutes of the game Maccassa FC, created and squandered numerous goal chances. In the last minutes of the game Culture’s number 16, Malick Colley was knocked down in the 6 yard box by Maccassa defender Bekai Williams but the central referee ignored the action, ending the game in a stalemate.
