Gambian Young Talent wins German U15 Best Player Award

Gambian Top Talent Lamin Touray, Wins U15 National League and Cup Award in Germany with Borussia Dortmund U15
Lamin Touray, Borussia Dortmund´s Gambian born youth player has been celebrated and awarded best German U15 player in the 2016/17 footballing season, after helping his team win both the U15 league and the super cup.
His team emerged top in the German U15 league, in which Lamin was so influential, he also help the team beat Preußen Münster by 3:1 in the U15 super cup final.

Gambia Ex-President´s 131 landed, 88 Bank Accounts & other assets freezed

Speaking to journalists in a news conference in Banjul, the Attorney General and Justice Minister of the Gambia, Hon Ba Tambadou has on Monday confirmed obtaining a court order freezing or placing a temporary hold on the known assets of the Former President Jammeh and companies directly associated with him.

Fajara: May 22, 2016 - The Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure, Mr Demba Ali Jawo, accompanied by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr Malick Jones, on Wednesday paid a familiarisation visit to the offices of the Gambia Press Union.
Upon arrival, the minister was given a guided tour of the Gambia Press Union Secretariat and its facilities. During the meeting, the GPU President, Bai Emil Touray, expressed delight at the visit by the minister and his deputy permanent secretary.

Dankeschönfest für die Flüchtlingshelfer



Das Deutsche Rote Kreuz lud am Mittwochabend 22. Februar die FlüchtlingshelferInnen aus dem östlichen Bodenseekreis zu einem Dankeschönfest im Rotkreuzzentrum Friedrichshafen.
Zur Eröffnung der Veranstaltung betonte der Präsident des DRK Bodenseekreis, Herr Kruschnik, kein Mensch verlasse freiwillig seine Heimat, weshalb das Rote Kreuz 2015 gerne die Verantwortung für die Koordination der ehrenamtlichen Flüchtlingshilfe übernommen habe.

Gambia’s presidency probing ‘wrongful’ dismissal of civil servants

Gambia’s newly inaugurated President Adama Barrow charged a panel to review the sacking of thousands of civil servants by the Jammeh administration.
The panel will be hearing from former state employees who were fired between 1997 and 2017 by executive orders from former President Yahya Jammeh.

Gambia’s celebrity army chief who has found popularity during the political crisis in the country will not be losing his top military job after Gambians rallied online calling for the new President Adama Barrow to keep him.
Lt. Gen. Ousman Bargie will remain the country’s Chief of Defense Staff, Barrow announced on Saturday.

BANJUL, January 27, 2017 - At last, Arsenal fan Adama Barrow has become the Head of State of The Republic of The Gambia.
After a chaotic past few weeks in The Gambia as tensions and frustrations over the fragile political situation manifested in almost every aspect of daily life, including sport.
Both players and administrators running various disciplines got caught in the impasse which began early December, after general elections which saw the country’s long serving leader Yahya Jammeh defeated by Adama Barrow. After initially conceding loss, Jammeh made a dramatic U-turn, citing irregularities in the process.

Rousing welcome for Barrow in Gambia

Gambians Thursday evening treated their new President Adama Barrow to a historic tumultuous welcome on his return from a 13-day exile.
President Barrow left Gambia on January 13 for Mali to meet regional leaders to discuss his country's political situation and later proceeded to Dakar, Senegal where he took the oath of office on January 19.

No deal in talks to persuade Gambian leader to step down

No deal was reached Friday in last-ditch attempts by a regional mediation team to persuade Gambia's longtime leader to step down, and while mediation will continue, the inauguration next week of the elected opposition coalition leader will go forward, the spokesman for coalition said.

Press union ask for detained journalist to be released, closed radios opened

The Gambia Press Union is demanding the release of a journalist who has been detained since last year and for charges against the former director of the state broadcast network be dropped.
Journalist Bakary Fatty has been detained since November 8, 2016. Director Momodou Sabally has been released on bail after being arraigned for the second time on charges that were previously dropped.
