GSA equips thirty officials


Ngetcell-Sports (The Gambia) The Gambia Swimming Association on Sunday 24th April, 2016 ended a three day open water technical training clinic for thirty swimming officials at the Gambia National Olympic house in Kanifing. 
The clinic instructed by Samuel Greetham, a member of the FINA open water swimming technical committee and director of British Swimming, was meant to offer technical proficiency and help develop best practices that can help the National Association to succeed.

WHO rep hails Gambia’s gains as World Malaria Day looms

Ngetcell-Banjul (The Gambia) Dr Charles Sagoe-Moses, the World Health Organisation representative in The Gambia, has said that there is a major decline in global Malaria cases and deaths since 2000 and that the progress was made possible through the massive expansion of effective tools to prevent and treat malaria, such as insecticide-treated mosquito nets, diagnostic treating and malaria medicines.

SJAG unveils nominees for 7th National Sports Award

Speaking at the unveiling Musa Sise the President SJAG and chairman of the Awards Commitee said: “It is a noble thing to honor people who have sacrificed for this country in the field of sports even when you might defer in view with them.

GPU urges Government to ensure Journalists’ safety

Ngetcell-Banjul (The Gambia) The Gambia Press Union (GPU), in a statement delivered at the 58th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights on Tuesday urged the Gambian Government to put an end to impunity and ensure safety of journalists during the electoral process.

Over 800,000 children to be vaccinated against Measles

NGETCELL-Health The Gambia) The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare through its Expanded Immunization Programme, will conduct a massive vaccination campaign against Measles and Rubella from April 25th to May 1st, targeting 802, 245 children,'' officials announced yesterday.
According to Modou Njie, director of Health Promotion and Education who was speaking at a news briefing Tuesday,   the exercise which targets children between 9 months and 14 years, will be conducted alongside a Vitamin A deficiency and worm infestation for children aged  6 months to 5 years.

The Standard takes border closure to ordinary citizens

Voxpop - The Gambia-Senegal)  The border rift between Senegal and The Gambia has been rumbling on for some time now; dominating news headlines. The two countries are yet to settle the issue and, a few days ago, ECOWAS dispatched a fact-finding mission to gather firsthand information on the issue with a bid to finally putting the problem to bed.
