Mr Lamin Camara, the
deputy permanent secretary, Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs is the new
chairman of the Country Coordinating Mechanism of the Global Fund (CCM).
Camara and his vice
chairman, Mustapha Kebbeh, were elected on Thursday by members of the CCM at an
event held at Paradise Suites Hotel, replacing outgoing chairman and vice chair
in Mr Madi Jobateh and Mrs Ramatoulie Jawara Ceesay who two-year tenure has
expired.
The new CCM leadership
has assured to mobilize the resources for the efficient running of the body,
expressing hope that the project will continue to benefit Gambians.
The outgoing chairman,
Mr Madi Jobateh, said CCM is on firm grounds. “We are far advanced in the new
funding model and with the new leadership, I am confident that the CCM will
even grow form strength to strength.
“In that regard, I wish
to call all CCM members to continue to give their undiluted support and
cooperation to the new leadership. I wish to encourage the new chair to have an
open mind, and to create the space for all views to be expressed and to ensure
that all times the best interest of the country is promoted and protected.”
