Gambia Swimming Association to hold regional competition in Barra

Gambia Swimming Association will hold its 6th 3KM Regional Competition in Barra on Sunday 31st May 2015 in Barra, North Bank.
The competition will feature top male and female national swimming champions from North Bank Region and other regions.

The event is aimed to promote, encourage, organize and develop Open Water Swimming in all the seven regions of The Gambia, as well as to boost the morale and instill confidence and courage in the young swimmers.
According to Yoro Njie, Secretary General of the Association, it is first of its kind in North Bank Region and the general public invited to grace the occasion.
“The regional competitions will provide opportunities for specialized marathon swimmers to compete with standardized FINA Open Water competition rules and regulations. It will also expand the membership of the association in all the seven regions, in anticipation of creating mass participation in swimming,” he said.

He concluded by calling all interested parties to contact the association for registration.
