Champions Yallal fire first canon

As Sanjal tourney grows in size

By Abdoulie Nget

Champions Yallal Bah put showed class Saturday to tame arch-rivals and formidable opponents Kunjo by a goal to nil at the Sabach Sukuta football ground. Tipped to retain their title Yallal never failed to impress using a flowing and a spicy football style that proved unrivalled and always guarantee a top finish for them in this Sabach Sanjal district tourney. Last year they left it late but used penalties to prevail over a stubborn Kani Kunda to lift the championship. Are they on similar crudade? The victory over Kunjo certainly suggest so.

In the other Group B match Mbappa and Sankalang, played a controversial nil-nil draw  with Mbappa coach Omar Ceesay claiming  they were denied all three points by refereeing decisions that robbed them of a penalty and a  clean goal that was disallowed. Biran Mbye had put Mbappa on the lead only for Sankallang to level through their fleet footed number 9 Babucar.
Meanwhile the district tourney look set to grow  with the organising committee announcing that more teams have come forward wanting to register, meaning an additional group will be added to the two groups already  in the fray. Details of this new registrations and group will be announced later.
