The National Sports Council in fulfillment of its responsibility of monitoring,
regulating, registering of national sports associations/committees/federations
and coordinating sports activities in The Gambia among other things, recently
presented certificates of registration to national sports associations at its
Independence Stadium Secretariat.

Claros offers free medical help to Serekunda hospital patients

Volunteers of Claros
Foundation, a Spanish medical non-profit organisation, are currently at the
Serekunda Central Hospital in Kanifing to help patients who are in need of a
variety of surgical operations at no cost.
At a reception ceremony
held recently at the hospital’s conference hall, officials of the hospital
affirmed that the intervention of the Claros Foundation was crucial in that
it had enabled patients who were
not able to travel abroad for certain
medical treatments due to high costs to be treated right here in the country
for free.

GNOC Awards Scholarship to Wallidan Coach
As part of
its drive to capacitize member Associations, The Gambia National Olympic
Committee (GNOC) has awarded Foday Bah, the coach of Wallidan FC in the Gambia
Football Federation (GFF) first Division league, an Olympic Solidarity
Scholarship for coaches to attend an International Coaching course (ICC) at the
Semmelveis University in Budapest, Hungary.

Brussels Airlines: Africa is still a safe place to visit despite Ebola
Kevin Constant, the country manager for The Gambia offices of Belgium's national carrier, Brussels Airlines, has said that the African continent is still a safe place to visit despite the Ebola epidemic.
Speaking at a news conference at the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, Mr Constant, said: “Although Ebola virus is present in only three out of fifty six African countries, tourists, investors, and consumers still avoid regions that were never actually affected by it.
WFP doles out equipment to health ministry
The World Food Programme on Tuesday gave out eight laptops and eight multi-purpose coloured printers to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Banjul.
The items which also include a food and nutrition guideline document for HIV and tuberculosis patients were meant to enhance the work of healthcare officers on effective healthcare service delivery in the country.
