The Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure has sent a letter to various media houses requesting that they furnish the institution with a copy of their publications.
The ministry explained that this will help the institution in playing its oversight function.
The release which was signed by the permanent secretary reads: “The Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure wishes to bring to your attention that in carrying out its mandate needs to have copies of all print media publications at its disposal.
“In lieu of this and to help the ministry carry out its oversight responsibilities as such, you are required to send to the ministry a copy of your publication as and when your paper is out.
“However MOICI will further want to be listed as a subscriber and to be sent an extra copy of which the Ministry will be billed and payment effected on a monthly basis.
“It will be prudent if you can send as soon as possible, a subscription form when signed will be binding upon us. We hope this arrangement serves our best interest and further cooperation.”
